Don’t Spook the Deer

One of the biggest mistakes a hunter can make during hunting is by letting his target know about his presence. In this case, when a deer learns about your presence in the area, it will immediately run away and hide. Being felt in the woods can also pose dangers for you, as you can be attacked by other animals while hunting for a deer.
Here are the top reasons why you should not spook the deer:
1. You lose bucks. A deer’s instinct is keen and very sensitive. Once it detects that you are nearby, it will immediately run frantically out of your sight, and it will be difficult for you find one again. Also, its running speed and attitude also denotes a sense of danger for other bucks, thus they too will run for cover. This will only leave you frustrated as nothing good has developed from your hunting trip.
2. Commotions may arise. The presence of humans entails danger for deer and other animals living in the woods. And since they feel danger, not only will they run away-they also prepare themselves for combat. Deer may not be offensive animals but they are good defense strategists, while other animals present can start the offense and attack either the deer groups, or the human enemies. You wouldn’t want to be slaughtered by an animal, don’t you?
3. Long-term hunting frustration. Deer have good memory, aside from a keen sense of smell and instinct. They can easily remember your presence even if it took you weeks before returning to the hunting ground. Since your presence has already been marked, the bucks will automatically hide from you once they know you have returned to hunt.
Given these reasons, it is thus an imperative for you to stay quiet and do not scare the deer during a hunting session. Here are some good tips on how you can retain the deer’s cool while aiming a shot:
1. Do not make unnecessary moves. For the umpteenth time, it is important that you remain still when hunting a deer. Avoid making unnecessary movements as this will immediately alert the deer and run away. They get scared even at the slightest movements you make, so be careful when making your moves.
2. Stay at a good distance. As much as possible, do not get too close from the deer. The shock your presence will make either alerts the deer to run away or attack you. Thus, to keep you safe, aim at a safe range.
3. Keep a disguise. There are many ways for you to hide yourself from your target, and this is by staying unscented and wearing camouflage suits. This way you can shoot at a deer without much pressure of being seen, and at the same time hide yourself from possible dangers such as attacks from other animals in the woods.
